Your baby at 7th week of pregnancy

Your baby at 7 weeks

Your baby is the size of a small blueberry at 7th week of pregnancy. Your little one is 4- to 8-millimetres (0.15 to 0.3 inch) long this week, a little larger than the width of your little finger nail.

Brain

Although brain development will continue long after birth, the basic sections have formed. As the week progresses, this organ will divide into three parts: fore-brain, mid-brain, and hind-brain. The fore-brain will be responsible for things like reasoning, problem-solving and forming and retaining memories. The mid-brain will relay electrical signals to their final destinations in the brain. The hind-brain will take care of breathing, heart rate, and muscle movement. Limbs are also growing fast: arm and leg buds have sprouted.

The pee parade

Raging hormones and increased blood volume cause your body to produce more fluid so you may find yourself heading to the ladies’ room more often than before. However, it’s important to stay hydrated – you should continue to drink extra water throughout your pregnancy. Due to which you might want to visit the loo frequently. Find out how to deal with frequent urination during pregnancy here.

Healthy habits

Make sure to order your meat well done and avoid kitty litter duty throughout your pregnancy. Toxoplasmosis, an infection passed along through raw meat and cat feces can be harmful to your baby (but not to you). In fact, you may have already had it without knowing it – if so, you are immune. Eat right and stay healthy to avoid any kind of infection during pregnancy. Know tips on eating healthy food during pregnancy here.

Twin development at week 7

Though multiples are often smaller than singletons at birth, their development each week isn’t that different until the third trimester. This week, your babies are each a little bigger than the top of a pencil eraser.

Many women have their first ultrasound between weeks 6 to 8. This is the appointment that will give you a view into your uterus to see your babies. You can also detect their heartbeats through ultrasound as early as week 6.
